Paris Saint-Germain won back-to-back Champions League titles by beating Arsenal on penalties in a cagey final that culminated in a dramatic penalty shootout at the Puskas Arena on Saturday.

A year after ripping apart Inter Milan 5-0 with an attacking master class, the Parisians this time found another way to the title after bashing into a solid red wall for 120 minutes.

They did so by fighting back from a goal down against a resilient Arsenal side that successfully smothered their game after opening the score at the first opportunity with a brilliant strike by Kai Harvetz.

Long dismissed as glamorous underachievers despite breaking all spending records, the Parisians have now forged a dynasty under Spanish coach Luis Enrique, ​marrying attacking brilliance with ‌clinical efficiency to establish themselves as the dominant force in European football.

Maine Democratic Senate Candidate Is Coming Unraveled

Days after Graham Platner announced his Maine Senate bid, his wife informed the campaign about a potential political problem she had previously discovered on the oyster farmer’s phone: sexually explicit texts with several women, according to people familiar with the matter.

Amy Gertner, who married Platner in 2024, told the campaign about messages she had found early in their marriage in the spring of 2025. In late August, as some aides were conducting opposition research on their own candidate, Gertner disclosed the texts to a campaign aide to make sure they didn’t pose a risk to her husband’s nascent campaign, those people said. The campaign had been preparing for a major rally over Labor Day weekend last year with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who was set to officially endorse Platner at the event.

Aides ultimately decided the texts were a private matter that was being handled by the couple in marriage counseling, a campaign official said. The rally proceeded as planned, with thousands in attendance. 

In a statement provided by Platner’s campaign, Gertner said she believed she was confiding in an aide she considered a friend.

PSG fans riot in Paris and clash with police to mar Champions League celebrations

Fires and running battles with police marred celebrations in Paris as thousands of Paris St-Germain fans took to the streets to celebrate winning the Champions League final for a second successive year.

PSG fans had already clashed with police on the streets of the French capital before the Champions League final had even kicked off, but matters escalated after their team secured victory over Arsenal following a tense penalty shoot-out.

By the early hours of Sunday morning, the French Interior Ministry confirmed that 326 people had been detained nationwide, including 235 who were apprehended in Paris. It was not immediately clear how many of these individuals were remanded in custody to face further investigation.

Why $1bn in Balkans energy contracts are going to an obscure company connected to Donald Trump

On a graffitied Sarajevo backstreet, a path leads past an overgrown patch of garden to a white door. Beyond is the registered office of a company that is on the brink of winning contracts worth more than $1bn.

AAFS Infrastructure and Energy is close to securing a concession to build and operate a pipeline across the Balkans to allow fossil gas shipped from the US to replace supplies that come from Russia. “This could be the most important infrastructure project ever in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” says one of the country’s top officials, who, like others, asks to remain anonymous to discuss sensitive negotiations.

The company has no record of even attempting anything close to this scale. What it does have is personal connections to Donald Trump.

One of AAFS’s representatives is a Washington lawyer who has acted for the Trumps in political cases. The other is the brother of the president’s former national security adviser. Both were part of a campaign that is close to Trump’s heart: the effort to overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
