U.S.: CNN Poll: 59% of Americans Disapprove of Iran Strikes

CNN reports:

Nearly 6 in 10 Americans disapprove of the US decision to take military action in Iran, as most say a long-term military conflict between the two nations is likely, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS.

The poll, fielded shortly after US and Israeli attacks launched the war with Iran, finds majorities express doubts about President Donald Trump’s handling of the situation. Most say they lack trust in Trump to make the right decisions about US use of force in Iran, with 60% saying they do not think he has a clear plan for handling the situation and 62% saying he should get congressional approval for any further military action.

Just over a quarter (27%) feel that the US made enough of an effort at diplomacy with Iran before using military force, with 39% saying the US did not try hard enough at diplomacy first and 33% unsure.

U.S.: Trump Said War Will Go on for Weeks

New York Times reports:

President Trump said on Monday that the United States would continue attacking Iran for as long as it takes to leave it incapable of posing a threat, indicating that an expanding war in the Middle East could continue for weeks or more.

“Whatever the time is, it’s OK, whatever it takes,” Mr. Trump said at his first public event since U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iran began on Saturday. “Right from the beginning we projected four to five weeks, but we have the capability to go far longer than that. We’ll do it.”

U.S.: Zuckerberg’s $170M Mansion Buy Breaks Miami Price Records

Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have paid $170 million for an under-construction mansion on Miami’s sought-after Indian Creek island. The deal closed Monday, according to the local multiple listings service.

The purchase sets a record for Miami-Dade County, and is one of the country’s most expensive to date. The current U.S. record is held by billionaire Ken Griffin’s roughly $238 million of a New York apartment in 2019. The Florida record was set last year when a waterfront compound in Naples traded for $225 million.
