The Pentagon is looking at sending up to 10,000 additional ground troops to the Middle East to give President Trump more military options even as he weighs peace talks with Tehran, Department of Defense officials with knowledge of the planning said.
Trump earlier said he was pausing strikes on Iran’s energy sector for 10 more days, to April 6, so peace negotiations can take place beyond his previous Friday deadline. Peace talk mediators said Iran didn’t ask for the additional time. Trump said the extension was at Iran’s request.
U.S.: Trumps Goes Off
Trump posted:
The Radical Left Democrats, and their “Leader,” Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, have made it very clear where they stand, and that is, ON THE SIDE OF CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS, AND NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. They are refusing to fund Immigration Enforcement unless the Republicans agree to their Open Border Policies, which will never, ever happen again. They almost destroyed our Country, allowing 25 Million People to enter from Prisons, Mental Institutions, and Insane Asylums, those that are Drug Dealers, and thousands of Murderers, many of whom killed more than one person. Because the Democrats have recklessly created a true National Crisis, I am using my authorities under the Law to protect our Great Country, as I always will do! Therefore, I am going to sign an Order instructing the Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, to immediately pay our TSA Agents in order to address this Emergency Situation, and to quickly stop the Democrat Chaos at the Airports. It is not an easy thing to do, but I am going to do it! I want to thank our hardworking TSA Agents and also, ICE, for the incredible help they have given us at the Airports. I will not allow the Radical Left Democrats to hold our Country hostage any longer. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
The streaming giant adjusted its pricing structure Thursday, with all subscription tiers rising at least $1.
The company’s ad-supported plan is now $8.99 a month, up from $7.99; the standard plan is now $19.99 a month, up from $17.99; and its premium plan is now $26.99, up from $24.99. Extra member pricing also increased, with ad-supported plans now costing $6.99 per additional non-household user, up from $5.99, and ad-free add-ons now costing $9.99, up from $8.99 each.
The price hike comes as Netflix has been investing heavily in its content, including new ventures into the live events space and into video podcasts. The last time the company raised prices was January 2025.
President Trump said on Thursday that he would sign an emergency order to pay Transportation Security Administration agents who have gone without compensation for weeks, as senators struggled to strike a homeland security funding deal that could end the intensifying crisis at airports.
Mr. Trump did not provide any details, but the administration was expected to use funds provided to the Department of Homeland Security last year as part of his tax cut and domestic policy law, according to a senior administration official and another person familiar with the plan, both of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe it.
The Senate voted early Friday to fund the Department of Homeland Security except for its immigration enforcement and deportation operations, raising the prospect of an end to a weekslong partial shutdown that has strained federal workers and caused long waits at airports.
Middle East: Israeli soldier killed, 4 wounded in southern Lebanon by Hezbollah anti-tank missile
An Israeli soldier was killed and four others were wounded in a Hezbollah anti-tank missile attack in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces announced Thursday evening, the military’s second fatality of the day.
The slain soldier was named as Sgt. Aviaad Elchanan Volansky, 21, of the 7th Armored Brigade’s 77th Battalion, from Jerusalem. He is the fourth soldier to be killed in the conflict with Hezbollah that began on March 2, when the Lebanese terror group began firing rockets and drones at Israel amid the US-Israeli war with its sponsor, Iran.
Earlier in the day, the military said an IDF soldier was killed overnight during a firefight with Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon.
