Wes Streeting has told Sir Keir Starmer that he is preparing his case to be the next Prime Minister, The Telegraph can disclose.

The Health Secretary is poised to launch a leadership campaign if Sir Keir is forced from office this week, amid mounting speculation that the Prime Minister will have to resign.

When questioned by Downing Street about his intentions, Mr Streeting is understood to have told No 10 that he is not planning to challenge Sir Keir directly, but is preparing a “case” for a leadership challenge if it “all falls apart” and a contest is triggered by another candidate.

Israel-Lebanon: Medics among 51 killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon in past 24 hours

Al Jazeera reports:

The Lebanese Health Ministry says Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours have killed 51 people, including two medical workers.

“The Israeli enemy continues to violate international laws and humanitarian norms, adding more crimes against paramedics, as it directly targeted two points of the Health Authority in Qalawiya and Tibnin, Bint Jbeil district, in two raids,” the ministry said.

A ceasefire, brokered by the United States, is into its third week.

The ministry said 2,846 people have been killed across the country since March 2, when Israeli forces began a new military operation.

Since then, the United Nations says at least 103 Lebanese medical workers have been killed and 230 injured in more than 130 Israeli strikes.

Middle East: Netanyahu says Iran war is ‘not over’ as Trump rejects latest Iranian offer

CNBC reports: 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that the war with Iran is “not over,” as the U.S. and Israel still aim to bring an end to Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.

“There’s still nuclear material, enriched uranium that has to be taken out of Iran,” he said in a taped interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes” that is set to air Sunday night. “There is still enrichment sites that have to be dismantled, there’s still proxies that Iran supports, there are ballistic missiles that they still want to produce ... there’s work to be done.”

Pressed for how the U.S. and Israel would remove the nuclear material, Netanyahu said: “You go in, and you take it out.”
