Maine: Senate Candidate Graham Platner Under More Scrutiny

The women who described difficult relationships with Mr. Platner knew him at different points of his life. Ms. Fifield said she dated him starting when they were both in their late 20s in Washington, during a time Mr. Platner has described as challenging. Ms. Racicot knew him in Maine when they were in their mid-30s and he was living in Sullivan, Maine, and working on his oyster farm.

The third woman, a Democrat from Maine who spoke on the condition of anonymity, had a long-distance relationship with Mr. Platner on and off for years, as recently as 2016.

The three described him in similar terms. Spending time with him could be exhilarating, they said. But they also recounted patterns of heavy drinking and womanizing. Asked to sum up how he treated her, the third woman said she felt like “collateral damage to the world that is his.”

Hezbollah rejects Israel-Lebanon truce as Trump scrambles to end Iran war

Hezbollah has rejected a US-brokered ceasefire plan agreed by the Lebanese and Israeli governments, throwing the future of a truce in Lebanon and regional peace negotiations into question.

The group’s leader, Naim Qassem, called the plan a “roadmap to annihilate part of the Lebanese people” in a statement on Thursday.

He demanded a complete ceasefire and withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon, and said that as long as Lebanese villages were being bombed, northern Israel would not be safe.

“As long as the occupation exists, the resistance will continue,” he said. “We call upon the officials to put an end to this farce and humiliation called direct negotiations.”

Kremlin Responds: ‘If Zelensky Wants to Meet, He Can Come to Moscow”

In a direct open letter, President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to hold a meeting about ending the war on neutral grounds. He proposed a full prisoner exchange, monitored ceasefire along the current front line, and international security guarantees as steps towards ending Russia’s full-scale invasion. US President Donald Trump expressed support for the idea. But the Kremlin dismissed the idea of a neutral venue and insisted on Zelensky coming to Moscow if he wants a peace deal.

Casey Wasserman says he won't resign as chair of 2028 Olympics

ESPN reports:

Casey Wasserman said he hasn't considered resigning as chairman of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics despite Mayor Karen Bass urging him to quit because of his appearance in the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Asked Wednesday if he had thought about stepping aside and whether he had talked to Bass since her February comments, Wasserman curtly replied, "No and yes."

Wasserman has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein, but documents released by the Justice Department revealed that in 2003, he exchanged flirtatious emails with Ghislaine Maxwell, who, years later, would be accused of helping Epstein recruit and sexually abuse his victims.

Wasserman's company has been funded by Rhode Island-based Providence Equity
