Providence police responded Friday night to a report of a man shot in the chest -- and elbow.
Shortly before midnight, police were dispatched to 64 Leander Street for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, police met with the victim, who stated that he was shot in front of his home, and told police he was shot twice, once near his elbow and once in his chest.
The victim stated that he had just gotten dropped off by his sister when he heard gunshots and tried running inside when he lost his shoe. He told police all he saw was a black vehicle flee the area. He was then transported by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.
Police canvased the area, and observed the victim's apartment door to be opened and blood in the living room area. Police cleared the apartment and observed the rear glass slider door to have a gunshot through it.
Police also canvassed the backyard and found one spent shell casing.
According to police, while at the hospital, the victim became uncooperative with police and did not have a complaint at the time.
