Providence police responded to calls of shots fired on Morris Avenue on Friday.

Providence Police responded to reports of shots fired on Morris Avenue on the East Side of Providence on Friday night -- and a house a block away from the Governor's home had a bullet in the door.

"After 10 pm on Friday, we got a complaint on 177 Morris that there were shots fired and a bullet hole in the front door," Providence Police Major David Lapatin told GoLocal.

"We got some additional calls from neighbors that there were shots fired and squealing tires. [We] found the bullet in the door [at 177 Morris]," said Lapatin.

177 Morris is at the intersection of Hazard Avenue -- and is one block from Governor Raimondo's residence.

"What we gathered was there were 2 cars, one chasing the other, and there were shots fired -- at least 5 out of one car, maybe both," said Lapatin. "Five shell cases were located on the scene throughout the area."

Lapatin added that "no one was hurt," and that police are following up on descriptions of the vehicles, as well as reviewing video.
