Former Classical and Hope Football Coach and Pastor Faces Major Drug Charges

Jeremy Ogunba, a former Hope and Classical High School football coach, has been arrested and charged with four felony drug charges.

 

He was arrested on June 5.

Ogunda has been a celebrated Providence resident.

 

His Middle School, Roger Williams, features him as one of its notable alumni along with State Representative Jose Baptista, Major League Baseball player Jeremy Pena, and others.

Jeremy Ogunba attended Roger Williams and was promoted in 2001. He attended and graduated from Classical High School in 2005.  From there Jeremy attended CCRI and RIC. He received a degree in education from RIC.  He did not go directly into teaching but did work as a university minister at UMass Dartmouth, RIC and Brown University.  While working on his degree and during his tenure as a university minister, Jeremy also helped coach the Classical football team for 12 years.  Three years ago, Jeremy transitioned from academia and started a career in real estate as an agent.  He was also recently hired as the head football coach at Hope High School.  

 

He has also been cited for his work as a pastor. "Jeremy is now on staff with InterVarsity (IV) Christian fellowship at Brown University,” writes Glean, a faith-based ministry organization.

 

In addition, he received a Master’s degree from Brown University in 2025.

 

Charges

According to those with firsthand knowledge, two kilos of fentanyl and six kilos of cocaine were confiscated.

 

Ogunda’s attorney Artin Coloian said in a statement to GoLocal, “The evidence used to charge in Mr. Ogunba’s case is disturbing.”
