This weekend’s events include live music from former Eric Clapton guitarist Albert Lee, the Rhode Island Boat Show, Black Odyssey at Trinity Rep and more.

Black Odyssey at Trinity Rep

The play is an epic and glorious reimagining of Homer’s classic poem that combines Greek mythology and African-American history of the last fifty years. Kent Nash will be directing this production and will feature Joe Wilson, Jr.

The two last worked together on the wildly successful 2017 production of The Mountaintop.

Albert Lee Band at The Narrows

Albert Lee is one of the most respected and renowned guitarists in music history, having worked with The Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris and The Cricketts over his long and illustrious career.

The British-born country-rock artist started his career during the emerging rock ‘n’ roll scene of sixties London, when he swapped bands with the likes of Jimmy Page and Chris Farlowe. 

The show begins at 8 p.m.

Families can explore environmental exhibits representing Rhode Island’s diverse habitats, from upland meadow and cornfields to wetlands, salt marshes and the Narragansett Bay shoreline.

The Providence College Friars host the defending national champion Villanova Wildcats at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Saturday afternoon. 

The Friars are 0-1 in the Big East and 10-4 overall on the season.

David Lee Black Solo Photography Exhibition Opening

David Lee Black is a known for his dramatic storytelling photographs. David’s “All is Actually Each” exhibition is a collection of photographs that poses the question, What is the sum of all things? Our collective experiences across the spectrum make us the person we are at any given point in our lives. We are fluid creatures and artist's cannot own the meaning of their work. “All Is Actually Each ...” offers a journey into the sum of all things, the differences between subject matter and content, past and future, and coping and living.

The exhibition is open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
