NEW: PC Men's Basketball Coach Hodgson Announces 6 Staff Hires

Providence College Men's Basketball Head Coach Bryan Hodgson has announced the hiring of six members of his staff - and all worked with Hodgson last season at the University of South Florida.
No members of English's coaching staff were retained.
On Monday, PC announced that Tee Butters (associate head coach/general manager), Jamie Quarles (assistant coach), Derek Rongstad (assistant coach), Logan Ingram (assistant coach), and Alex Harris (assistant coach) all will be part of Hodgon's coaching staff.

Joining Hodgson as part of his staff will be Tyler Pacheco as the director of basketball operations.
"I am excited that we were able to keep our staff together and we will have this talented group working in Friartown," said Hodgson, "Tee, Jamie, Derek, Logan, Alex and Tyler all played a key role in our success last season. I am confident that they will work tirelessly to help us build one of the top programs in the BIG EAST. About Coaches
Butters was most recently an associate head basketball coach at the University of South Florida for the 2025-26 season. He helped the Bulls capture the AAC Regular Season and Conference Tournament titles after posting a 25-9 mark. The squad also earned the Bulls' first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2012. Prior to USF, Butters served as an associate head coach at Arkansas State for the 2024-25 season, also under Hodgson. He was also a Red Wolves' assistant coach during the 2023-24 campaign. Before his time in Jonesboro, he spent nine seasons at Charleston Southern, including four as an associate head coach. He played a key role in player development, recruiting and game strategy.
Prior to coming to Friartown, Quarles served as an assistant coach with the University of South Florida men's basketball program for the 2025-26 season. Before going to USF, Quarles spent two seasons at Arkansas State, where he was promoted to associate head coach ahead of the 2024–25 campaign. Before Arkansas State, Quarles spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Buffalo, including the 2022–23 season as associate head coach. During his time with the Bulls, the program posted a 129-62 overall record and a 76-32 mark in Mid-American Conference play, which included their best season in program history in 2018-19 (32-4) and first top-25 ranking. He helped lead the team to two MAC regular-season titles, two conference tournament championships, two NCAA Tournament appearances and NIT appearance.
In 2025-26, Rongstad served as an assistant men's basketball coach at the University of South Florida. He joined the Bulls in April 2025 after two seasons at Arkansas State. He served as a Red Wolves' assistant coach for two seasons. His role included opponent scouting, talent evaluation, and recruiting. Before joining the Red Wolves, Rongstad spent four seasons on the staff at Alabama under Head Coach Nate Oats. During his tenure, Alabama compiled a 92–42 record, captured four championships, and made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including two trips to the Sweet 16.
Ingram began his first season as an assistant coach at the University of South Florida in 2025-26. Ingram served on Bryan Hodgson's staff at Arkansas State for two seasons as the Red Wolves' video coordinator and then later as the director of scouting and analytics. He managed practice and game videos, assisted in preliminary scouting and analytics, and supported recruiting operations, summer basketball camps, and player development. During his second season at Arkansas State, the Red Wolves won the 2025 Sun Belt Conference regular season championship. Arkansas State also reached a total of 25 wins during their 2024-25 campaign, the most in school history. Ingram spent four seasons as a manager for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Harris joined the University of South Florida men's basketball team as the director of player development in April 2025. At USF, he was instrumental in the development of Izaiyah Nelson, who became the first player in American Conference history to win Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. Also, USF players Wes Enis and Joseph Pinion earned All-Conference honors. Harris previously spent two seasons on Bryan Hodgson's staff at Arkansas State as the assistant coach for player development. Prior to his time at Arkansas State, Harris served as associate head coach at Word of God Christian Academy (North Carolina). Harris also was an assistant coach at E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, N.C., and for Team Loaded NC 17U on the Adidas 3SSB circuit.
Pacheco joined Bryan Hodgson's staff at USF as the director of operations in 2025-26. Prior to going to South Florida, he spent two seasons at the University of Texas, where he served as the director of recruiting after a stint as a graduate manager. While with the Longhorns, he played a role in the team's back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, once in the Big 12 and the other in the SEC. During the 2023-24 season, Austin, Texas, posted a 21-13 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. In July of 2024, Pacheco was named the director of basketball operations at Cal State Fullerton and was an on-the-floor coach for the Titans. He returned to Texas in October of 2024.
2026 College Basketball Transfers
Stefan Vaaks ➡️ Illinois
The Estonian came to PC and became a proverbial diaper dandy. Stefan Vaaks was named to the All-Big East freshman team.
The sharpshooter has posted to social media that he is leaving Providence.
Rich Baron
The junior who has often been injured showed great promise as a freshman.
He was selected to the All-Big East freshman team two years ago.
Daquan Davis
Davis was originally a Cooley recruit and then decommitted after Cooley left for Georgetown.
After a strong year at Florida State, Davis transferred to PC. He was slated to be the Friars point guard, but played just 12 minutes.
Now he is off to the portal again.
Jaylen Harrell ➡️ Washington State
One of Providence College’s prized recruits, Jaylen Harrell, is expected to enter the transfer portal.
He and Jamier Jones were Kim English’s premier recruits. While Jones played well and made the All-Big East Freshman Team, Harrell played in just 6 games and averaged just 3.7 PPG.

Oswin Erhunmwunse ➡️ Creighton
On Thursday, Oswin Erhunmwunse confirmed he is exploring his options.
The 6’9” sophomore was a shot-blocking force for the Friars last year, averaging 2.1 blocks per game.
But, he seemed to regress offensively and averaged just 6.9 PPG and 8.3 rebounds.
Jamier Jones ➡️ Missouri
On Friday, ON3 reported that Jones would enter the portal.
Jones, a 6-foot-6 guard, averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game this season while shooting 57% from the field.
Miles Byrd ➡️ PC
San Diego State transfer guard Miles Byrd announced his commitment to Providence last Thursday, choosing the Friars over the University of Kentuckyand several other high-major programs.
Byrd, a 6-6, 190-pound guard, is coming off a strong season in which he averaged 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 40.5% from the field. He also added 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game, earning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors for his impact on that end of the floor.
Byrd is likely to earn in the $2 million range for the upcoming season.

Dink Pate ➡️ PC
Dink Pate is a three-year professional who has never played college basketball. The G-Leaguer player averaged 16 points a game this past season for the Westchester Knicks, the affiliated team of the New York Knicks.
Pate signed with the Friars last week.

Gavin Hightower ➡️ PC
Gavin Hightower was a freshman at the University of South Florida this year, playing for Bryson Hodgson.
The point guard is 6'1" and 165.
He averaged 10 PPG and hit just one 3-pointer the entire season. He had 45 assists and 31 turnovers.
Devin Vanterpool ➡️ PC
Devin Vanterpool is the fourth guard to join the Friars.
He comes to PC from Florida Atlantic, where he was the leading scorer at 15.8 PPG. He shot 35% from behind the 3-point line and had 6.2 rebounds a game.
The news comes the same day that the Friars learned that Jamier Jones was headed to Missouri.
He is a 6’4” rising junior and is a Laurel, Maryland native.

Ryan Sabol ➡️ PC
Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Bryan Hodgson announced on April 15 that 6-3 junior guard Ryan Sabol (Washington, D.C.) has signed an athletic aid agreement to attend Providence in 2026-27.
Peteris Pinnis, a freshman who saw limited action this past season with PC, is looking for a new team.
The 7-footer is from Latvia, and he showed improvement as the season went along.
His highlight game was four points, and he grabbed four rebounds at No. 2 UConn (1/27/26).
Arrinten Page ➡️ PC
Arrinten Page (Atlanta, Ga.) has signed an athletic aid agreement to attend Providence in 2026-27.
"Arrinten will add another dimension to our roster next season," Hodgson said. "He has played in three different power conferences and is coming off his best individual season, averaging 10.2 points and 4.5 rebounds and shooting 54.6 percent from the field in the Big Ten. We expect that he will continue to develop and he will improve his versatile skill set in our program. He will be an elite addition on both ends of the floor in Friartown!"
In 2025-25, Page averaged 10.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game at Northwestern. He scored 15 or more points eight times, including a career-high 22 points at DePaul on Nov. 14, 2025. Page registered a double-double versus Mercyhurst when he scored 18 points and recorded a career-high 12 rebounds on Nov. 3, 2025.
Leonardo Marangon ➡️ PC
The new signing is Leonardo Marangon.
He is a 6'7 ", 190-pound wing who played for UEB Gestico Cividale in the Italian Serie A2 this past season.
According to 247sports, which first reported the signing, “In 36 games for Cividale, he averaged 9.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He added 42 steals and nine blocks. Marangon shot 124-281 from the floor (.441), 78-164 from two (.476), and an impressive 46-117 (.393) from three, while making 57-85 free throws (.671).”
Malik Mack ➡️ PC
The newest portal signing is junior Malik Mack, who ran the point at Georgetown for Ed Cooley for the past two years. In his freshman year at Harvard, he was named the league's top freshman.
In addition to the retention of Ryan Mela, Hodgson has now signed six new guards for the 2026-27 season.
This past season, Mack averaged 13.6 PPG for the Hoyas.
Jacob Bannarbie ➡️ PC
The 6'10" center leaves Las Vegas and comes to Providence.
Jacob Bannarbie is a native of Phoenix, Arizona.
He is the third center joining PC from the portal.
None of the three is top-tier. It may be center by committee.
