PC Signs Another Guard — 5th in Two Weeks
Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Bryan Hodgson announced Thursday that 6-3 junior guard Ryan Sabol (Washington, D.C.) has signed an athletic aid agreement to attend Providence in 2026-27.
"Ryan is a team-first player and we are excited that he will be part of our program next season," Hodgson said. "His development has come through hard work and growth during his college career. He is a prolific scorer from the perimeter. He made 122 threes and shot 40 percent from beyond the arc last season. Ryan ranked seventh in the nation in made three pointers."

Sabol averaged 18.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists at Buffalo in 2025-26. He was second on his team in scoring (18.8 points) and assists (107). Sabol was just the second Buffalo player to register 600 or more points and add 100 or more assists in a season. He shot 39.9 percent (122-306) from behind the 3-point line and 85.9 percent (79-92) from the free-throw line.
He registered 73 threes in conference play to lead the Mid-American Conference. Sabol had 17 games with 20 or more points, including two games with 30 or more points. He also posted 15 games with five or more made three, including a career-high seven versus Southern Mississippi on Nov. 3, 2025. For his efforts, he earned Third Team All-MAC honors.
This makes the fifth guard PC has signed — four from the transfer portal and one as a free agent from the G-League.

2026 College Basketball Transfers
Stefan Vaaks ➡️ Illinois
The Estonian came to PC and became a proverbial diaper dandy. Stefan Vaaks was named to the All-Big East freshman team.

The sharpshooter has posted to social media that he is leaving Providence.
Rich Baron
The junior who has often been injured showed great promise as a freshman.
He was selected to the All-Big East freshman team two years ago.
Daquan Davis
Davis was originally a Cooley recruit and then decommitted after Cooley left for Georgetown.
After a strong year at Florida State, Davis transferred to PC. He was slated to be the Friars point guard, but played just 12 minutes.
Now he is off to the portal again.
Jaylen Harrell ➡️ Washington State
One of Providence College’s prized recruits, Jaylen Harrell, is expected to enter the transfer portal.
He and Jamier Jones were Kim English’s premier recruits. While Jones played well and made the All-Big East Freshman Team, Harrell played in just 6 games and averaged just 3.7 PPG.

Oswin Erhunmwunse ➡️ Creighton
On Thursday, Oswin Erhunmwunse confirmed he is exploring his options.
The 6’9” sophomore was a shot-blocking force for the Friars last year, averaging 2.1 blocks per game.
But, he seemed to regress offensively and averaged just 6.9 PPG and 8.3 rebounds.
Jamier Jones ➡️ Missouri
On Friday, ON3 reported that Jones would enter the portal.
Jones, a 6-foot-6 guard, averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game this season while shooting 57% from the field.
Miles Byrd ➡️ PC
San Diego State transfer guard Miles Byrd announced his commitment to Providence last Thursday, choosing the Friars over the University of Kentucky and several other high-major programs.
Byrd, a 6-6, 190-pound guard, is coming off a strong season in which he averaged 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 40.5% from the field. He also added 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game, earning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors for his impact on that end of the floor.
Byrd is likely to earn in the $2 million range for the upcoming season.

Dink Pate ➡️ PC
Dink Pate is a three-year professional who has never played college basketball. The G-Leaguer player averaged 16 points a game this past season for the Westchester Knicks, the affiliated team of the New York Knicks.
Pate signed with the Friars last week.

Gavin Hightower ➡️ PC
Gavin Hightower was a freshman at the University of South Florida this year, playing for Bryson Hodgson.
The point guard is 6'1" and 165.
He averaged 10 PPG and hit just one 3-pointer the entire season. He had 45 assists and 31 turnovers.
Devin Vanterpool ➡️ PC
Devin Vanterpool is the fourth guard to join the Friars.
He comes to PC from Florida Atlantic, where he was the leading scorer at 15.8 PPG. He shot 35% from behind the 3-point line and had 6.2 rebounds a game.
The news comes the same day that the Friars learned that Jamier Jones was headed to Missouri.
He is a 6’4” rising junior and is a Laurel, Maryland native.

He comes to PC from the University of Buffalo.
Samson Aletan ➡️ PC
The Friars have landed Samson Aletan — a 6’10” center.
He only scored 7.8 PPG and 5.8 rebounds per game at Yale this past season as a junior.
Peteris Pinnis ➡️ Oregon State
Peteris Pinnis, a freshman who saw limited action this past season with PC, is looking for a new team.
The 7-footer is from Latvia, and he showed improvement as the season went along.
His highlight game was four points, and he grabbed four rebounds at No. 2 UConn (1/27/26).
Arrinten Page ➡️ PC
Arrinten Page (Atlanta, Ga.) has signed an athletic aid agreement to attend Providence in 2026-27.
"Arrinten will add another dimension to our roster next season," Hodgson said. "He has played in three different power conferences and is coming off his best individual season, averaging 10.2 points and 4.5 rebounds and shooting 54.6 percent from the field in the Big Ten. We expect that he will continue to develop and he will improve his versatile skill set in our program. He will be an elite addition on both ends of the floor in Friartown!"
In 2025-25, Page averaged 10.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game at Northwestern. He scored 15 or more points eight times, including a career-high 22 points at DePaul on Nov. 14, 2025. Page registered a double-double versus Mercyhurst when he scored 18 points and recorded a career-high 12 rebounds on Nov. 3, 2025.
Leonardo Marangon ➡️ PC
The new signing is Leonardo Marangon.
He is a 6'7 ", 190-pound wing who played for UEB Gestico Cividale in the Italian Serie A2 this past season.
According to 247sports, which first reported the signing, “In 36 games for Cividale, he averaged 9.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He added 42 steals and nine blocks. Marangon shot 124-281 from the floor (.441), 78-164 from two (.476), and an impressive 46-117 (.393) from three, while making 57-85 free throws (.671).”
Malik Mack ➡️ PC
The newest portal signing is junior Malik Mack, who ran the point at Georgetown for Ed Cooley for the past two years. In his freshman year at Harvard, he was named the league's top freshman.
In addition to the retention of Ryan Mela, Hodgson has now signed six new guards for the 2026-27 season.
This past season, Mack averaged 13.6 PPG for the Hoyas.
Jacob Bannarbie ➡️ PC
The 6'10" center leaves Las Vegas and comes to Providence.
Jacob Bannarbie is a native of Phoenix, Arizona.
He is the third center joining PC from the portal.
None of the three is top-tier. It may be center by committee.
