In the proverbial olden days — pre-portal and NIL money — things would look good for the future of the Friars. Two super-talented Friar freshmen would be returning — Stefan Vaaks and Jamier Jones, as well as solid sophomores Ryan Mela and Oswin Erhunmwunse. The Friars would be loaded.
Now, the unknown is the known.
Starting today, everyone is a free agent and with no coach. Everyone is being wooed by promises of greener financial opportunities. All four of these players will make more than $1 million a year next season, and Jones and Vaaks may be $2 million talents.
For Friar fans, the departure of English means the Friars face the most uncertain future.
