Syracuse University is still under heavy sanctions from the NCAA after committing numerous violations over the last decade. Last season, the University was ineligible to compete in postseason play and this season, head coach, Jim Boeheim, will be suspended for the first nine games of ACC play for his role.

Boeheim also had 108 wins vacated and is now sixth on the all time wins list.

On Thursday, June 25, the University announced that Boeheim will retire following the 2017-18 season and assistant, Mike Hopkins, will take his place.

The Syracuse Orange were one of the founding members of the original Big East Conference.
