Friars Down UC Irvine 1-0, Advance to Elite Eight

The Providence College men's soccer team defeated UC Irvine 1-0 in the NCAA Championship Third Round on Sunday Night at Ray Treacy Track. The win sends the Friars to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.
Markus Naglestad scored the Friars only goal of the game on a free kick late in the second half to send Providence onto the next round where they will face Michigan State in East Lansing at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 5.
Providence outshot the Anteaters 17-8 in the match and held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks.

Providence won the Big East Championship and currently sit at 15 wins on the season, the most in program history.
