Stop giving up and1's

If your going to foul somebody, foul them. Don't let them make the basket and get the free throw. 

Miami shot 18 free throws in the game and made 13 of them. There is not really a stat for and1's, but it seemed like the Hurricanes were making baskets and getting the extra free throw way too much. Early on, that is what kept the Miami in the game. 

This is a problem that needs to be corrected as Big East play looms. 

Carson Desrosiers

Carson Desrosiers had a nice game for Providence tonight, was really a presence in the middle of that 2-3 zone. 

Desrosiers had a team leading five blocks in the game and also added seven rebounds and a steal. 

On the other other, Carson Desrosiers netted 12 points on four of six shooting from the floor and four of six shooting from the free throw line.

Desrosiers will be a very important player for the Friars as Big East play rolls around.  

LaDontae Henton

Looks like LaDontae Henton is back. Henton led the Friars against Miami with 25 points and five rebounds in the game. 

Just like early on in the season, Henton was dominant once the second half came around and turned into the go to guy that we had become accustomed to seeing on the floor. 

Henton went 10-19 from the floor, including two of five from three-point land to lead Providence. 

They will need more of this once Big East play starts in a little over a week. 

Solid Defense

Ed Cooley once again dialed up the 2-3 zone in this game and once again it worked wonders for the Friars. 

Miami shot 37 percent (22-59) from the field and 18 percent (5-27) from beyond the three-point arc. The Hurricanes really struggled to get the ball inside as the Friars did a good job of taking away the free throw line, which a lot of times in a 2-3 zone, that area ends up coming open. 

Providence had seven steals and forced 12 turnovers. 

Kris Dunn

The Friars have won four games in a row and it is no coincidence that Kris Dunn has played very well in all of them. Dunn has controlled each and every game and he did it again against Miami. 

Dunn had 15 points on six of eight shooting and dished out 13 assists, the Friars as a team had 18. 

Dunn also had five rebounds and three steals in the contest. 

As Big East play rolls around, Kris Dunn is on his game.
