It is not expected that any K-12 schools in Rhode Island will be open on Tuesday.

Travel Ban

According to McKee’s office, “The State of Emergency and travel ban remain in effect and will be reassessed in the morning to give state and local plow crews time to make progress overnight as weather conditions improve and to ensure roads can be cleared safely.

RIPTA Cancelled

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will suspend all service on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, due to post-blizzard conditions and ongoing safety concerns. The safety of RIPTA passengers and employees is the Authority’s top priority.

RIPTA initially suspended service at 9:00 PM on Sunday, February 22, through Monday, February 23, 2026, in anticipation of Winter Storm Hernando. While the intensity of the storm has passed, hazardous road conditions, limited visibility, and the need for continued snow removal operations across the state make it unsafe to resume service at this time.
