NEW: Man Carjacked, Assaulted by Three Gunmen in Providence

A man reported being carjacked at gunpoint in South Providence overnight.

About Incident

Providence Police responded to the area of Dudley Street and Prairie Avenue shortly before 12:30 AM on Tuesday for a report of a carjacking.

According to police, the victim - a male in his 20s - said he was parked in his car when three men approached the vehicle. 

The victim said the suspects all had firearms; he told police one got into the passenger side of his vehicle and hit him with a gun, and another got into the back of the car. 

He said the suspects threatened to shoot him; the victim said he was pulled out of his vehicle and assaulted by all three suspects. 

Police say the male suspects are described as "one black male wearing a baseball cap with dreads and another black male with long hair and short sides" -  the last suspect is unknown.

Detectives are investigating.
