Cranston Greek Festival at Annunciation Church
Live Greek music and traditional Greek Dancers perform.
Wide variety of Greek food including roast lamb, Greek-style chicken, souvlaki, pastitsio, spanakopita (“spinach pie”) tiropita (“cheese pie”) and Rhode Island’s best GYROS.
The pastry booth features hand-made Greek pastries, including everyone’s favorite BAKLAVA. Enjoy your Greek pastries with Greek coffee or a cold Frappe.
The festival begins at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Ambrosia at Stadium Theatre
Get ready for a night of eccentric progressive rock, seductive ballads, and postdisco sound with Ambrosia.
The five-time Grammy nominated, hit-producing rockband had five top 40 hit singles released between 1975 and 1980, including the top five hits "How Much I Feel" and "Biggest Part of Me."
The concert begins at 8 p.m.

Southern Bay Lighthouse Tour with Save The Bay
Enjoy the rich, historical sites of the lower part of Narragansett Bay on this 3.5-hour tour. With breathtaking views of the Newport Pell Bridge, Prudence Island, and historic Fort Adams, you’ll view 11 active and inactive lighthouses, and stop at Rose Island for lunch and a tour of the Rose Island Lighthouse and grounds, where guests climb up the tower to view the new Fresnel lens up close.
Tours begin at 10 a.m.

URI Football vs Delaware at Meade Stadium
The URI Rams return to Meade Stadium for their home opener against Delaware under the new lights at Meade Stadium.
The Rams opened the season with a 41-20 loss to Ohio last week and will look to get back on track.

Mayor Kirby Mayer Acoustic Group at Courthouse Center for the Arts
Singer-songwriters Peter Mayer and Scott Kirby met in 1991 in Key West at the original Margaritaville Café. Peter, fresh from his debut Warner Brothers’ album Piece of Paradise, had come down to work with Jimmy Buffett. Kirby had recently arrived from New Hampshire to rekindle his love affair with music and explore the art of songwriting.
The two began a musical friendship that included co-writing, performing, and the record label Little Flock Music. In 2013, Peter son’s Brendan set out on his own musical journey, which included joining his father and Kirby on their annual east coast acoustic tour.
The tour features the three on acoustic instruments and percussion.

20th Annual Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races & Taiwan Day Festival at Festival Pier in Pawtucket
The Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races & Taiwan Day Festival is an extraordinary event for the whole family to enjoy.
The races continue to use the fiberglass Taiwanese-style dragon boats gifted to us from the Republic of China (Taiwan) and incorporate the skill of flag-catching in each race. The Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat races also offer large cash prizes to the winning teams.

Greg Abate, jazz saxophonist, flutist, and composer, continues as an international jazz/recording artist with 225 days a year touring the globe.
He is making a stop at Blithewold Mansion alongside artists Ben Cook on piano, Paul Del Nero on bass and Gary Johnson on drums.
The event begins at 1 p.m.

The Rhode Island Seafood Festival is an annual event, which began in 2011, that brings together the best local purveyors of seafood and another fine fare as well as beer, wine, and spirits from Ocean State producers.

Concert On The Lawn: The New Providence Big Band at East Providence Library
Enjoy a sunny September afternoon with the awesome horns and romantic melodies of the New Providence Big Band.
Featuring the dynamic vocalist Katie Kleyla, this fun big band performs the great standards. A favorite of Weaver Library audiences for the past three years, this concert is free and open to all.

Festival Guatemala at Roger Williams Park
It is a family-friendly, free admission, all-day event. Performances of various traditional dances, and music such as the “marimba” are showcased.
Festival Guatemala provides an opportunity to participants to enjoy a day of remembrance of their history, traditions, and culture. Visitors have the opportunity to savor Guatemalan and other international gastronomy offered by vendors.
