Family Sailing Festival at Sail Newport
Sail Newport will hold a public sailing festival to salute the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority's 50th Anniversary celebration of the Newport Pell Bridge.
The event will provide guests with the opportunity to experience sailing, see Newport and the Newport Pell Bridge from the water, and enjoy Narragansett Bay.
The event goes from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m

The Newport Mfa Presents: Jill Bialosky & Ann Hood Craft Talk at Ochre Court
Four guest authors will be featured in public events as part of Salve Regina University’s exclusive creative writing degree program, The Newport MFA.
Jill Bialosky is an Executive Editor and Vice President of W. W. Norton & Company, and is the editor for Ann Hood’s books. The afternoon Craft Talk “A Conversation Between Writer and Editor,” features Bialosky and Hood talking about that relationship and taking questions from the audience.
The talk begins at 3 p.m.

Newport Gulls vs Winnipesaukee at Cardines Field
The Newport Gulls are back at Cardines Field to host Winnipesaukee on Friday night.
Winnipesaukee is 2-10 on the season, while the Gulls are 8-5 overall.

Raptor Round Up Hike at Norman Bird Sanctuary
Embark on a search for native raptors and meet an Animal Ambassador red-tailed hawk up close.
You'll hike through a variety of habitats in search of wild raptor species such as red-tailed hawk, Cooper's hawk, osprey, or even stop to listen for owls. Your naturalist guides will use biofacts to explain how species are adapted to live in particular habitats and hunt certain prey items.

Common Burying Ground Guided Tour
The tour will start at the entrance on Warner Street (at Burnside Avenue). The focus of the tour will be stones carved in the 1700s, many from the Stevens shop. A highlight of the visit will be God's Little Acre, the largest collections of gravestones for people of African heritage in Colonial New England.
