“Illuminating the Past" at Naval War College 

The Naval War College Museum is now hosting a new exhibit, “Illuminating the Past,” by Tom Freeman. The exhibit, which is on loan from the National Museum of the United States Navy, occupies the museum’s art gallery on the first floor and will be on rotating display through 28 February 2018. 

Freeman was the first artist in residence for the U.S. Naval Institute as well as the artist in residence for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration from 2013 until his passing in 2015.

The exhibit runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Artist's Choice Spring Bull Studio & Gallery 

Participating artists choose their best work, not restricted by subject matter or theme, for submission to this juried exhibit. 

The art chosen by the juror, Richard Harrington, will be on display for viewers enjoyment throughout the month of August.

The exhibition Artist's Choice 2017 begins with a reception on Saturday, August 5 from 5:00 p.m.  - 7:00 p.m. 

The exhibit runs through August 30.

1777 British Occupation Living History Event 

 More than 50 costumed interpreters will recreate aspects from the summer of 1777 on Aquidneck Island during the first year of the British occupation.

Reenactment scenarios will range from the capture of General Prescott by the American Rebels, to a demonstration of the auctioning of scarce food items and goods, to the ever-intimidating presence of British guards.

The event goes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

3-Hour America's Cup 12-Meter Racing Experience 

Race aboard a 12 Meter America’s Cup contender!

Once aboard the 12 Meter racing yachts, a professional, and friendly crew will coach those interested in a “hands on” sailing experience, but participation is not required. No sailing experience necessary.

Fun for sailors of all ages!

The race goes from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Wine Run at Greenvale Vineyards

The Wine Run at Greenvale Vineyards combines a running event with a wine tasting. 

The course is approximately 3 miles long and consists of trails in the Vineyard.

The run will finish amongst the grape varieties. Following the race, there will be a wine tasting and BBQ.

Every runner will receive a souvenir glass, wine tasting, and dinner.

The event goes from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
