Rhode Island State Police Investigate Deadly Crash — 3rd Fatality in Three Days

3rd death in three days

The Rhode Island State Police announced on Saturday they are investigating yet another deadly crash— the third in three days.

At approximately 3:30 Saturday morning, troopers from the Hope Valley Barracks, as well as members from the West Greenwich Police and Fire Departments, responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 95 South.

The investigation found that a 2010 Mini-Cooper, operated by Jason E. Reid, age 45, of Concord, New Hampshire, was traveling on Route 95 South in the Town of West Greenwich. After passing the Route 3 overpass, Reid failed to negotiate a left bending curve and veered right, consequently leaving the roadway. As a result, the vehicle entered the right shoulder, struck a large rock structure and rolled over.

He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by West Greenwich Rescue and pronounced deceased a short time later.

Friday's Motorcycle Crash

On Friday, troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks, as well as members of the Providence Fire and Rescue, responded to a crash on Route 95 South involving a motorcycle.

The subsequent investigation revealed that 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Scott M. Vickers, age 56, of East Providence, was traveling in the high-speed lane of Route 95 South in the City of Providence.

At a point approximately two hundred feet north of the Thurber's Avenue overpass, Vickers lost control of his vehicle and veered left, consequently striking the jersey barrier located in the center median. Vickers was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

Vickers was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Providence Rescue and pronounced deceased a short time later.

 

Thursday's Accident

On Thursday, at approximately 5:50 AM, Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks, as well as members from the Pawtucket Police and Fire Department, responded to calls for a crash involving one vehicle on Route 95 South in the vicinity of Exit 27.

The subsequent investigation revealed that a Toyota Scion, operated by Osman Eduardo Lopez-Enriquez, age 19, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, was traveling in the high-speed lane of Route 95 South, in the City of Pawtucket.

At a point approximately five hundred feet south of the Walcott Street overpass, the Scion veered left, struck the jersey barrier located in the center median, and rolled over.

Due to injuries sustained as a result of the crash, Lopez-Enriquez was pronounced deceased at the scene by members of the Pawtucket Fire Department. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
