Upon arrival, responders said they located a 2024 GMC Terrain "submerged up to its roof approximately 50 to 75 feet offshore along the northern shoreline of Conimicut Point Beach, between the point and the public boat ramp."

Public Safety Investigation

Police say emergency personnel immediately entered the water to inspect the vehicle and determine whether any occupants were inside, and that no occupants were located.

The Warwick Fire Department then deployed its marine unit, which conducted a search of the surrounding area using divers and sonar equipment and police say no individuals were found.

Police say the registered owner of the vehicle has been identified and contacted and is cooperating with investigators and that the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available, according to police.
