NEW: After 7-Year-Old Drowned in Warwick, Police Provide More Details

The Warwick Police Department on Wednesday released new information regarding the drowning that occurred on June 12, 2026, at Conimicut Point Beach involving a juvenile who was pulled from the water unresponsive.
According to police, seven-year-old Aston Jemson was at Conimicut Point Beach with his mother and younger sister on the afternoon of June 12.
Aston had been playing in the water on the south side of Conimicut Point, say police.

About Investigation
Police said their investigation found that Aston’s younger sister complained of an upset stomach, and "while his mother was attending to her daughter, she observed Aston lying face down in the water and noticed that he was not responding when she called his name."
Witnesses reported that Aston’s mother immediately ran into the water, pulled him to shore, and began CPR, said police, adding that multiple bystanders assisted with CPR and called 911 prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
Police say that "out of respect for the family, no additional identifying information will be released at this time and no further investigative details are available for release."
"The Warwick Police Department extends its thoughts and deepest condolences to the family and all those impacted by this tragic incident," said police.
