FedEx officials confirmed to GoLocal after requests for comment that the company is closing one of its two Warwick facilities.

“I can confirm that the FedEx facility at 255 Metro Centre Blvd. in Warwick will close in late-September while the facility at 540 Airport Road will remain open. Because there’s more than three months until closure and employees have several options, we are not able to provide final details on impacted employees,” said David Westrick, FedEx Media Relations

FedEx said it has closed more than 200 facilities as part of a corporate restructuring plan titled Network 2.0.

The statement from FedEx adds:

As part of our previously announced network transformation strategy, the FedEx facility on Metro Centre Boulevard in Warwick will close in September. Team members at the facility were notified several months in advance, and certain employees will be offered other roles within the company. For customers who have historically used this location for package drop off, those services will remain available at this site via a FedEx Office store that opens there. These decisions are never taken lightly and reflect our commitment to supporting affected employees – through job placement assistance, relocation aid, or severance, as applicable – while transforming our network and continuing to provide an outstanding experience for our customers.

The company would not disclose how many workers work at the Metro Centre facility.

According to the company:

“Network 2.0 is FedEx's multi-year network transformation, announced in 2022, to improve the pickup, transport, and delivery of packages in the U.S. and Canada. Network 2.0 combines our networks and unlocks efficiencies that enable FedEx to better serve customers
