NEW: Man Says He Was Shot While Being Robbed Outside a Bar in Cranston

A man was shot in Cranston overnight.

According to police, the victim said it took place at a bar in the city during a robbery. He was driven to the hospital in Providence.

About Incident

Early on Monday morning, officers responded to Roger Williams Hospital with the report of a gunshot victim.

The victim told officers that as he was leaving Zona Lounge, 195 Niantic Avenue, when he was approached in the parking lot by three masked individuals who demanded the gold chains he was wearing.

He said after he gave the the jewelry, one of the suspects fired three shots, striking him in the knee.

According to the victim, the suspects fled the area in a vehicle traveling down Niantic Avenue.

Cranston police said they responded to Zona Lounge and did not locate evidence of a crime at the scene, and said that staff at the establishment were unaware of the incident.

Officers seized the DVR from the location’s surveillance system, and detectives will continue the investigation today.
