With the Fourth of July coming up, Councilman Michael Correia is calling for increased enforcement of fireworks used in Providence neighborhoods.
In a letter sent to Providence Police Chief Colonel Hugh Clements, Correia said, “as we approach the Fourth of July, constituents have noticed an increase in fireworks being used late into the evening. I respectfully request that the Providence Police Department steps up enforcement in our neighborhoods around this time.”
He added, “I take the safety and well-being of our constituents very seriously.”

Correia requested that the department looks into the matter as soon as possible.

As GoLocalProv reported, WaterFire will begin the 2019 season with a basin lighting on Thursday, May 23 or the National Association of State Treasurers Treasury Management Training Symposium and the first full lighting of the season will be Saturday, June 22.
Waterfire is Providence's signature event bringing in people from all over New England and the country to see it.
