17-Year-Old Assaulted, Pistol-Whipped in India Point Park in Providence
A 17-year-old was reportedly robbed and pistol-whipped in Fox Point in Providence overnight. The assault took place around 10 PM.
About Incident
Shortly before 2 AM on Sunday, Providence Police responded to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for a report of a robbery and assault victim.
Police say they met with the victim’s mother, who said her 17-year-old son was at India Point Park on Saturday night when he was robbed and pistol-whipped by a group of male suspects.
According to police, the victim had a laceration on the left side of his head as well as on his lip.
The victim told police he had gotten into a verbal argument with a female, when a group of male suspects approached him and began assaulting him.
He told police the assailants hit him with closed fists and one suspect pistol-whipped him before stealing his bag and sneakers.
The victim told police a friend then drove him to the hospital.
