NEW: Alleged Federal Hill Shooter Surrenders to Police

The suspect in the Federal Hill shooting, Nyzaiah Wooten, has surrendered to the Providence Police.

He turned himself in on Monday morning at the Central Station.

Wooten is being charged with felony assault along with multiple firearms-related violations.

 

On Saturday, police released additional information regarding the shooting - and the suspect.

Police say that when they responded to Capri Seafood at 58 DePasquale Avenue on Thursday night, they encountered an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the lower right abdomen.

According to police, officers immediately rendered medical aid before Providence Fire personnel transported the victim to Rhode Island Hospital. The individual

underwent emergency surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.

Police say that a preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect - described as a "Black male with short dreadlocks and a goatee, wearing a black jacket with “Supreme” branding" - was seated on the outdoor patio prior to the incident.

"At approximately 7:41 p.m., the suspect engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim, produced a firearm, and discharged one round, striking the victim. The suspect then fled the scene on foot toward Spruce Street and Acorn Street," said police.
