NEW: Central High School Student Charged in Second Sexual Assault

A Central High School student, who GoLocal first reported last week was arrested on first-degree rape charges, has now been arrested for a separate sexual assault at the Providence school, GoLocal has learned.
On April 14, GoLocal reported that a student was arrested for reportedly raping another student at the school the prior day.
Now, the student is facing new sexual assault charges stemming from a separate, prior incident involving another victim, who came forward following the report of the first arrest.
In a letter obtained by GoLocal, the Providence Public Schools Department (PPSD) on Friday alerted the entire Providence schools community to the events, and urged anyone who “feels like they were the victim of a crime” to contact police.
PPSD on Record
In a letter dated April 17 on PPSD’s website, the district shared the following:
“Earlier this week, Providence Public School District (PPSD) shared news of a serious incident involving two students that resulted in a police investigation at Central High School. As a result of that investigation, the Providence Police Department has charged one student with sexual assault. PPSD has been in close communication with law enforcement, and the Providence Police Department has informed the District that additional students have come forward to report separate, but related, incidents.
While additional investigations into the allegations are ongoing and this did not happen at your student’s school, PPSD wants to ensure that families are kept informed and are aware that support and resources are available.
If you feel you were a victim of a crime, or if you have any information that could assist in the investigations, please contact the Providence Police Youth Services Bureau directly at 401-243-6164.
The student facing these allegations is no longer in the school. The school district is working collaboratively and will continue to cooperate with the police to support their investigations.”
