Townes' Three With 18 Seconds Left Lifts Bryant Over Dartmouth 68-67

SeBastian Townes knocked down a three with 18 seconds to play to lift the Bryant Bulldogs over Dartmouth 68-67 on Friday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center.

Townes led Bryant with 23 points on 9 of 15 shooting from the field. All of his points came in the second half.

The win improves Bryant to 3-7 on the season, while Dartmouth falls to 8-6.

Bryant Rallies

After trailing by eight at the half, 34-26, the Bulldogs opened the second half by scoring the first 12 points to take a 38-34 lead with 16:29 left.

Townes scored the first six points of the half to spark the Bulldogs.

However, the Big Green would rally themselves later in the half, going on a 9-0 run to take a 62-57 lead with 3:45 to play in the game.

The Big Green would lead by as much as seven before the Bulldogs would get two points each from Taylor McHugh and Townes at the free throw line to cut their deficit to 67-65 with 1:06 to play.

After Dartmouth came up empty in their second to last possession, the Bulldogs pushed the ball up the floor and got an open three from Townes to take a 68-67 lead with just seconds left.

Dartmouth’s final attempt was blocked by Juan Cardenas and a final desperation heave missed the mark to give Bryant the win.

Bryant returns to action on Saturday, December 29 when they visit #23 Iowa.

Game time is set for 8 p.m. and can be seen on ESPNU.
