Bryant falls to Sacred Heart
The Bryant Bulldogs fell 49-26 to Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon in Connecticut.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the NEC, while Sacred Heart improves to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in the NEC.

Brenden Famiano ran 13-yards to give the Bulldogs a 14-7 lead with 2:15 left in the first quarter, before Sacred Heart took control of the game.

Famiano was the only bright spot for the Bulldogs offense, rushing for 133 yards on 27 carries.

On Sacred Heart’s ensuing possession, running back Julius Chestnut broke a 75-yard touchdown run on the first play of the drive to tie the game at 14.

With 9:08 left in the second quarter, Chestnut got into the end zone again, this time on a 10-yard run to put the Pioneers up 20-14 after the extra point attempt was blocked.

Three minutes later, Sacred Heart’s Jordan Meachum would break a 71-yard touchdown run to give Sacred Heart a 27-14 lead after the extra point was good.

The Bulldogs would get back within seven when quarterback Price Wilson connected with Andrew Schultz on a two-yard touchdown pass to make it 27-20 before the half.

However, Sacred Heart continued to pour it on in the second half.

Sacred Heart’s Kevin Duke opened the second half with a 24-yard touchdown run to push the Pioneers lead to 33-20.

Later in the quarter, Chestnut would score his third touchdown of the game on a 62-yard run to make the score 40-20.

Bryant returns to action on Saturday, November 3 when they visit Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania.
