Samperi's Field Goal in Final Seconds Lifts Bryant Over Fordham 42-41

Luke Samperi drills game winning field goal for Bryant.
Sophomore kicker Luke Samperi booted his first career field goal from 42 yards out with no time left on the clock to lift the Bryant Bulldogs to a 42-41 win over Fordham on Saturday afternoon.

"Great team win. How we play at the end of games is so important to me. We were disappointed how last week ended so to see a complete reversal this week, from my perspective, I was thrilled to see. It's a great example of these kids, everyone was pulling for Luke. To watch him really calmly and coolly knock it down was fun. When you only get 11 games, to play a perennial FCS playoff team at their place and get it done, you savor that. Heck, if you can do it in New York right?,” said Bryant head coach James Perry after the game.

The win improves Bryant to 5-2 on the season, while Fordham falls to 1-6.

Trailing by eight points with 6:30 remaining, Bryant got the ball at their own one-yard line and went on to drive 99 yards in 15 plays to make it a two-point game.

Bryant quarterback Price Wilson completed six passes on the drive and sophomore Alfred Dorbor capped it off with his second rushing touchdown of the game.

After a defensive stop, the Bulldogs got the ball back on their own nine-yard line down two points with 1:24 to go.

Wilson completed eight passes to move the Bulldogs to the Fordham 24-yard line with just four seconds left to play.

After Fordham called a timeout to ice Samperi, he drilled the field goal right down the middle to give Bryant the win.
