The Providence College men’s basketball team lost in Washington, D.C. to Georgetown 80-79.
The Friars were just 1 of 7 in the final minutes of the game.
With a win, the Friars could have grabbed the 6th seed in the Big East tournament, but with the loss, the Friars fall to the 9th seed.

The Friars trailed by 12 points in the first half, but off an 8-0 run in the second half, PC jumped to a 62-55 lead.
The second half then went back and forth.
The Friars had several chances to steal the game in the final minute but missed repeated opportunities.
PC was led by Jaylin Sellers with 21 points and became the Big East’s leading scorer for the year.
Jamier Jones added 19, and Ryan Mela added 17.
PC finishes the regular season 14-17 overall and 7-13 in the Big East.
Georgetown improves to 14-17 and 6-14 in the conference. The Hoyas finish last in the Big East and two of their six conference wins were against the Friars.
Big East:
#9 PC takes on #8 Butler on Wednesday at 4 PM at Madison Square Garden. If the Friars win, they will play #1-seeded St. John’s on Thursday at 12 noon.
