“The institution in this country that people are most depending on to fight to restore [reproductive] rights is the Democratic Party… I am calling on the party to refuse to endorse candidates that don’t support the party platform, including the right to an abortion. That means the party should endorse Lenny Cioe over Dominick Ruggerio, Clara Hardy over Arthur Corvese, Marlene Guay over Robert Phillips, Damian Lima over Raymond Hull, Zakary Pereira over Joseph Solomon, Eric Asselin over Frank Lombardi, Arthur Flanders over Frank Ciccone, and Jen Rourke over Michael McCaffrey," said Brown.
Magaziner Endorsed by RI Democratic Party, but Morgenthau Scores Top U.S. Senator
The Rhode Island Democratic Party on Sunday endorsed General Treasurer and congressional candidate Seth Magaziner to be the next representative of Rhode Island’s second congressional district.
“I am honored to earn the endorsement of the Rhode Island Democratic Party,” said General Treasurer and congressional candidate Seth Magaziner. “There is so much at stake in this election and I will fight to protect a woman’s right to choose, to keep our kids safe from gun violence, to transition our country to clean energy, and to protect Social Security and Medicare from attempts to cut benefits.”
But Magaziner was not the only one landing a key endorsement. United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) announced her endorsement of Sarah Morgenthau in her campaign to represent Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District.
“I’m proud to endorse Sarah Morgenthau for Congress. I have known Sarah for years and am confident she’s the best candidate to win this seat and deliver for the people of Rhode Island,” said Gillibrand, “In the aftermath of Roe v Wade being overturned, and amidst constant attacks on reproductive rights, it is more important than ever that we elect pro-choice women to Congress. We need more strong women like Sarah Morgenthau in Congress, and we need more leaders who know how to get things done.”
