According to police, the subsequent investigation determined that Libasse Gadiaga, 24, of 44 Wilna Street in Providence, was traveling northbound on Dyer Avenue when he attempted to make a left turn onto Farmington Avenue.

Investigators determined that Gadiaga "negotiated an excessively wide turn, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into the front of the Equis Lounge, resulting in significant damage to the building."

Officers say they observed Gadiaga "displaying obvious signs of impairment."

He was taken into custody without incident and later refused to submit to a chemical breath test, say police.

Police added that the Cranston Building Inspector responded to the scene and determined that, despite the significant damage, the building remained structurally sound.

Gadiaga was charged with:

- Driving Under the Influence (1st Offense – BAC Unknown)

- Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test

Gadiaga was arraigned Wednesday morning in Third Division District Court in Warwick.
