Cranston Police Launch Body Camera Program

Starting on Friday, ten members of the Cranston Police Department Uniform Division will begin piloting a body camera program, “to assess the benefit(s) of the technology to the department’s policing mission and the feasibility of issuing body worn cameras to all members of the Uniform Division” announced the Cranston Police Department,
Cranston Police will record video and audio of the interactions between officers and the people they encounter on patrol.
“We are putting this information out to make notification to the public that officers will be utilizing body worn cameras and the officer will also advise people when practical that their encounter is being recorded. The cameras will be affixed to their outer garment on their chest,” said the Department
