"Save Bristol 4th" Reaches $17K Goal in Effort to Return Concert Series to Independence Park

As GoLocal reported, after it was announced in January that the historic concert series would be moving to Roger Williams University, there was immediate opposition.
According to "Save Bristol 4th," their online fundraiser was launched on February 2, after Bristol Police Chief Kevin Lynch said he would seek an additional $17,000 to $19,000 in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget to address the public safety concerns of hosting the series at Independence Park.

Additional Funds Sought
The group said on Tuesday that to "cover fees charged by GoFundMe and to get to the upper range of the Police Chief's estimate," a fundraising event will be held on Sunday, February 23 at Portside Tavern.
"Save Bristol 4th" says it will be an evening of live music, food, and drinks. Doors open at 5 PM; live music will be provided by Keats & Co. at 6 PM and a "taco bar" will be included. Proceeds from Vigilant Brewing Beer Sales will be donated.
The group is asking people to donate $25 or more through their GoFundMe. Admission is $30 at the door if not on the guest list in advance.
RSVPs can also be made on Facebook here.
"We are thrilled that the residents and businesses of Bristol have come together for this cause, and we look forward to presenting the petition (savebristol4th.com) and the funds raised to the Bristol 4th of July Committee at their next meeting on February 27 at 7 PM at the Burnside Building at 400 Hope Street [in] Bristol," said group organizers Mark Overy and Allison Borges. "Please feel free to reach out with any questions."
