URI vs Virginia Tech

Saturday will be the second game all-time between the two programs with the Hokies winning the first matchup 34-7 in October of 1980.

The Rams are 0-2 all-time against the ACC.

URI Offense

Entering Saturday’s game against Virginia Tech, the Rams offense is averaging 28 points and 419 total yards per game.

Led by quarterback Vito Priore, URI averages 343 yards through the air, but just 75 yards per game on the ground.

On the season, Priore has completed 137 of 211 passes for 1,717 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Senior wide receiver Aaron Parker is nearing 3,000 yards receiving in his career.

After totaling 87 yards receiving last week against Brown, Parker now has 2,918 for his career.

He ranks second in team history, and needs just 82 more yards to join tight end Brian Forster (1983-85, '87) as the only 3,000-yard receivers for the Rams.

Isaiah Coulter follows up Parker with 34 catches for 505 yards and four touchdowns.

URI Defense

Through five games this season, the URI defense is allowing 34 points and 489 total yards per game.

A positive for the Rams is that they are winning the turnover battle.

Rhode Island ranks 11th in the country and second in the conference with a +1.0 turnover margin.

Through five games, the Rams have recorded eight interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Safety Momodou Mbye is second in the country with 0.8 interceptions per game.

He recorded an interception in each of the team’s first four games of the year.
