URI Football Falls to Ohio 41-20

The University of Rhode Island football team fell 41-20 to Ohio on Saturday afternoon in the season opener.
URI opens the season with a record of 0-1.

However, the Bobcats went on to score 10 unanswered points capped off by a 22-yard touchdown pass by Ohio’s Nathan Rourke to Tyler Tupa to give the Bobcats a 17-3 lead.
Rhode Island would get a field goal just before the half to cut the lead to 17-6.
In the second, it was more Ohio.
Rourke led a 10-play, 72-yard drive ending with a touchdown pass to Ryan Luehrman to give the Bobcats a 24-6 lead with 10 minutes left the third quarter.
URI quarterback Vito Priore connected with Aaron Parker on a 34-yard touchdown pass to cut the Rams lead to 24-13.
That is as close as URI would get as Ohio would score ten more unanswered points to take a 34-13 lead before going on seal the 41-20 win.
For the Rams, Parker hauled in nine passes for 144 yards, while Prior threw for 291 yards.
Next Up
URI returns to action on Saturday, September 7 when they host Delaware at Meade Stadium.
