Rhode Island College Soccer to Host #1 Ranked Amherst on Wednesday

The Rhode Island College (RIC) men's soccer team (1-1) will host top ranked Amherst (0-0), the 2015 NCAA Division III National Champion on Wednesday, September 7 at Alumni Field at 7 p.m.
The Anchormen are coming off a win over 14th ranked Montclair State on Sunday at the Squad Locker Invitational.
The game will be the season opener for Amherst.

The Anchormen are led by junior forward Komla Dogbey, the defending Little East Conference Offensive Player of the year.
Dogbey, netting 16 goals and 6 assists for 38 points a season ago and will make his first appearance of the season against Amherst.
On the defensive end, senior Dan Monteiro leads the way after being named the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week and selected to the all-tournament team at the Squad Locker Invitational.
In goal, senior Chris Moura has posted a 1.00 goals against average in two games to go along with a shutout over Montclair State.
Amherst
Amherst posted an 18-1-2 record in 2015, winning their first national championship in program history with a 2-1 victory over Loras in the title game.
Senior Christopher Martin is the leading returning scorer for Amherst, coming off a 2015 campaign where he totaled 10 goals and 5 assists for 25 points.
Senior Justin Aoyama, a second team All-NESCAC performer that helped the Purple & White defensive unit post 16 shutouts last season, will lead Amherst on defense.
