Scheduling is always a work-in-progress, especially in college basketball.  But it appears that Providence is set with their non-Big East games for the 2014-15 season.

In gathering information from several sources, as it presently stands the Providence Friars will open the next college basketball regular season at the Dunkin Donuts Center on November 15th against the Albany Great Danes, who reached the NCAA Tournament last season and defeated Mount St. Mary's in the 1st round.  Not all of the contractual agreements have been signed, but the dates and opponents have just about been finalized.  Included in the non-league slate are home games with Holy Cross, UMass, Brown and URI; road games are slated for at Kentucky (in Lexington) and at Boston College.  There are also two neutral site games at the Mohegan Sun Arena as part of the Hall-of-Fame Tip-Off Classic that are sure to draw attention, if not actual fans - against traditional powers Florida State and Notre Dame - and a return trip to Brooklyn's Barclays Center for a game with the Miami Hurricanes, coached by former Friar Jim Larranaga.

If you're not keeping count, that's four games against ACC teams, two against teams in the Atlantic-10 and a road game at the potential pre-season national #1 again in Kentucky.  There are also three games against teams from America East, all of which have been contenders for NCAA berths in recent years (Albany, Stony Brook, Binghamton), and two games against Patriot League schools (Holy Cross and Navy).  Home games with Binghamton and Navy are a part of the Tip-Off Classic, which will culminate with the Friars facing FSU and ND in Uncasville, CT.  Seven of the 13 scheduled games are against teams that reached post-season play a year ago.
