Democratic Governors Association Blasts Christie and Fung

The Democratic Governors Association responded to Governor Chris Christie's recent visit to Rhode Island and his support of Republican candidate Allan Fung.

In a press release, the Democratic Governors Association stated, "Governor Christie's trip to Rhode Island to campaign for Rhode Island Republican Allan Fung served only to highlight their shared record of gross fiscal mismanagement and jobs failure.  Under Mayor Fung, unemployment increased even higher than the state level’s unemployment rate and Fung’s position on the Studio 38 bankruptcy would cost Rhode Island millions and reduce the state’s bond rating to junk status. Under Christie, New Jersey's bond rating has been downgraded a record–breaking eight times. This is the same kind of failed leadership that Rhode Island families would suffer under if Fung were elected governor."

Independent grassroots group The Gnomes Band has updated an old song with new lyrics on Vincent "Buddy" Cianci.

The chorus states, “Don’t let him ever return, no never return, as we have sadly learned. Now we pay and pay for the deals that he made. Let’s make sure Buddy never returns.”

The Gnomes Band members include Chris Brooks, Cathy Clasper-Torch, Phil Edmonds, Mike Fischman, and Matt Niebels.

Anne Grant named the song “One Providence”-the mayoral campaign slogan of Democratic candidate Jorge Elorza.

The song can be heard and downloaded here.

RI Dems and GOP-Accusations of Plagiarism

Mathew Leonard, Chairman of the North Kingstown Democrats, accused GOP Candidate Sharon Gamba and GOP State Representative Doreen Costa of plagiarizing a poster created in coordination with the NK Arts Council.

Robert Paquin III, the Executive Director of the Rhode Island Republican Party, responded with his own accusations of plagiarism.

Paquin stated, "Not only are these accusations baseless and without merit, but Chairman Leonard directly plagiarized a quote of mine from a Press Release I sent earlier this month that was published in the Providence Journal, among other sources."
