D2 Democratic Candidate Blasts Establishment

“RI voters (especially Independents) want a choice,” said Bah. “They want fresh ideas and new people. There are still enough undecided voters for this election to change course, but only if Democrats send the right candidate to the general election.”
“The endorsement of Treasurer Magaziner by Congressman Langevin - whose diversity committee I have served on for several years and whom I consider a friend - I believe is a mistake,” said Bah. “I don’t think Mr. Magaziner is the right candidate to face off against Alan Fung and I do not believe that the Congressman’s endorsement will convince independents or undecided Democrats to vote for him.”
“General-election voters don't want Seth Magaziner - and that probably will not change over the next four months, because voters have already had 7 years to get to know him,” said Bah. “We went with the 'safe' candidate in 2016 and we got Donald Trump. To keep this seat, Democrats need to be bold, and need to nominate a bold, qualified candidate - and I don't mean "qualified" in the conventional sense.”
“We don't need another lawyer or technocrat - we need a doer. We need someone who understands from firsthand experience: the struggles that Rhode Islanders are facing; the incredible potential of the people in this state; how to get things done on a community level; how to build effective coalitions of diverse stakeholders; is a leader; how democracies fail," said Bah.
Senior Issues Forum in August
The Senior Agenda Coalition and 16 co-sponsoring agencies are presenting an opportunity for the 2022 gubernatorial candidates to speak to the issues of Rhode Island’s aging population.
The event is taking place on Wednesday, August 3 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the East Providence High School auditorium,
According to event organizers, the forum’s overarching question is. “What will our next governor do to ensure the well-being of seniors, considering the growing population older Rhode Islanders?
“Many more seniors will need services ranging from affordable housing, transportation, supports for aging at home, community engagement and long-term care. How will our next governor address these needs?” the organizers continue.
Register to attend in-person or virtually:
Seating for the forum is limited to 450 people, leaving space for social distancing in the high school’s new 900-seat capacity auditorium.
You can choose the option to attend virtually via live stream.
