VIDEO: Providence Police Officer Appears to Repeatedly Punch Handcuffed Man
A man has shared a video of an incident that shows him being repeatedly punched by a Providence Police officer while in handcuffs.
"The Providence police beat me up while in handcuffs and they tried to suffocate me. This is what the Providence police do to people, they been doing this for years," said the man who goes by "Will Bozz."
When reached for comment, he told GoLocal the incident occurred last weekend at Pembroke and Eaton Streets. According to Providence Police, the incident occured on April 24.

Officers in the video can be seen trying to prevent bystanders from taking video of the incident.
He added that he believes police thought he was "being disorderly and disrespecting them" and that he intends to get a lawyer.

“I am not aware of any video and have not received any formal complaint. As I do not have a verified complaint, it would be inappropriate for me to comment,” said Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez on Saturday.
“Providence police Department takes concerns regarding police conduct and use of force seriously,” Perez added.
