Police Officer hits the woman four times in the head

A video of a woman being punched in the head and dragged by a Providence Police officer has been obtained exclusively by GoLocalProv.com, following an altercation reportedly on Homer Street in Providence.

The officer visibly punches the woman at least four times in the face before slamming her head into the police car; another Providence police officer throws a man into another police car.

The three minute and twenty-three second video was shot by a bystander as police officers responded to an incident at the Washington Park residence, located next to Roger Williams Park in Providence.

“I was just made aware of the existence of a video late this afternoon, where police were involved and using force.  We did not have any major incidents in the city last night, and we’re not certain where the video originated from.  We’re in the process of attempting to verify when and where the video was taken and what the circumstances were involved in the incident,”  said Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements.
