As GoLocal first reported last week, a video of a woman being punched in the head and dragged by a Providence Police officer sparked concern by community leaders about the behavior of officers during their response.
GoLocal has broken down the video and compared what officers filed in their police report and what is seen in the video shot by a bystander.

On Friday, Rhode Island State Senator Juan Pichardo told GoLocal, “This is horrible and no one should be subjected to this type of physical mistreatment under no circumstances. I would expect a full investigation.”
Governor Gina Raimondo called the video “deeply disturbing” in an interview with GoLocal.
GoLocal received a copy of the official police report and found that there were many significant discrepancies between the report and police action.
The officer visibly punches the woman at least four times in the face before slamming her head into the police car; another Providence police officer throws a man into a car. Neither actions are reported in the police report.
Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements told GoLocalProv in an interview that force was justified, but the investigation would look at whether there was excessive force in the police response.
