Titled, “The King of Rhode Island - Nick Mattiello in Lockdown," the feature is the first in a three-part series focused on the rise and now paralysis of Speaker of the House Nick Mattiello.
It includes never heard before interviews and photos that capture the early years of Mattiello, long before his rise to power.
In Rhode Island, House Speakers House Are All-Powerful
In 2014, the late political scientist Jay Goodman told Politifact that the Speaker of the House in Rhode Island is more powerful than the sitting Governor, but now due to global pandemic, a pending trial of one of Mattiello’s former political consultants, and a pending grand jury — Mattiello is in political “lockdown.”
“We are excited to expand on how we break down the biggest stories, especially those that are complex, with numerous angles," said Josh Fenton, CEO and Co-Founder of GoLocal. "We are committed to creating new ways to chronicle the most important developments in Rhode Island in the most innovative ways."
“This is an exciting time in media. We are a homegrown Rhode Island company and are constantly evolving how we deliver the most important stories — online, via social media, through GoLocal LIVE, and now through long-form documentary series with GoLocal Films,” added Fenton.
PART II, COMING SOON: “The King of Rhode Island - It Is Good to Be King.”
