RI’s Highest Infection Rate: CF No Longer Most Infected — 23 Communities With 5x State’s Safe Level

As the coronavirus ravages Rhode Island, the state continues to have the highest number of cases per 100,000 in the United States.

But as the virus sweeps across the state, the usual suspects -- Central Falls, Pawtucket and Providence -- are no longer the most infected.

Johnston has displaced Central Falls with the most infections per 100,000.

And, cases in Central Falls continue to spike.

More than half of Rhode Island’s cities and towns are now five times the state’s “safe” level of 100 cases per week per 100,000 residents.

Johnston and Central Falls are 10 times the safe level.

 

The exploding cases are not limited to Rhode Island’s urban corridor.

Burrillville has moved into third place — ahead of Providence and Pawtucket — with 985 cases in a week per 100,000 and the cases more than doubled in just two weeks.
