UPDATED: Rhode Island Now Has Highest Coronavirus Infection Rate in U.S.

Rhode Island has surpassed all other states and now has the highest infection rate for the coronavirus in the United States.

According to Covid ActNow, the research group lead by Harvard, Stanford and Georgetown, RI has the highest daily new cases surpassing midwestern states that have no masking requirements.

Rhode Island now has 110.3 new daily cases per 100,000. Second-ranked is Minnesota at 104.5.

South Dakota’s rate is 100.2.

This past week, Rhode Island had over 8,000 new cases and 67 deaths.

This new level on contagion may force Governor Gina Raimondo to revamp her existing partial shutdown.
