RI Completes 40% Fewer Tests Than Last Weekend, But Cases Jump to 2,769

Rhode Island's coronavirus testing program did 40% fewer tests from Friday to Sunday than the state completed over the same three day period the week before.

Despite the testing decline, Rhode Island had 2,769 new cases over the weekend -- and 27 more deaths.

The helter-skelter testing program continues to miss Governor Gina Raimondo's targets.

Repeatedly, Raimondo has promised the state's program would complete 20,000 tests a day. 

This weekend, despite the explosion of new cases, Rhode Island completed less than 10,000 tests per day after removing the college tests.

Currently, there are 365 hospitalizations with 40 people in the ICU.
